As you can see from the chart further down on this page, the Corolla really impresses when it comes to spaciousness. Not only does it provide more overall passenger volume than the 2017 Jetta, but it also has far superior rear seat legroom, while also having a bit of an edge with front seat legroom as well. Unlike other options, the Corolla certainly doesn't emphasize the "compact" in the term compact sedan.

Differences Between the 2017 Corolla vs 2017 Jetta
There are some similarities between these two models, however, such as in the safety department. Both models were listed as a Top Safety Pick+ by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which is a major honor. That being said, some safety features do come standard in the Corolla, but don't in the Jetta. These include driver knee protection airbags, LED headlights, fully automatic exterior lights, delay-off headlights, a headlight washer and Lane Departure Warning. That's some excellent value right there.
Moreover, the Corolla will be providing excellent value throughout the entire time you own it. Though the Jetta's maximum fuel economy is great, the Corolla has in edge in terms of maximum city mpg. This means fewer stops for gas and more money in your pocket.
