2017 Toyota IIHS top safety picks

Toyota models have dominated the list of safest available vehicles produced through out the year by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The automaker had a total of 12 vehicles make the lists for Top Safety Pick+ and Top Safety Pick; seven from Toyota and five from its luxury Lexus brand. Safety testing by the IIHS has become more stringent over the years. The non-profit organization no longer only tests for how well a vehicle will protect its occupants in a crash. In addition to those crash test scores, the IIHS also pays very close attention to the kind of active safety systems each vehicle has that will assist the driver in avoiding crashes in the first place. Toyota is really start to ratchet up the excitement surrounding the unveiling of the inaugural model of the Toyota C-HR. The model is officially debuting in the United States as a Toyota-branded model at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this week. Reveal of the 2018 Toyota C-HR

Toyota is set on redefining the compact crossover SUV class by redefining what a compact crossover SUV looks like as well as how it performs. With the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show set to start later this month, the automaker will show off the 2018 Toyota C-HR for the first time in the United States. In the name of honesty, Scion actually introduced the C-HR first in L.A. last year, but the brand has since been shuttered and the C-HR will be rebranded as a Toyota vehicle. This is the same process that took place with the Corolla iM and Yaris iA; both of which started life as Scion models.
