As you learned a couple of weeks ago, Toyota introduced an all-new 2020 Corolla to the folks at the 2018 LA Auto Show, and it’s a pretty incredible redesign. Sportier and more sophisticated than any Corolla before it, the new compact sedan promises only to continue building the decades-old legacy it has already constructed. However, we also mentioned a new amendment to that legacy: the 2020 Toyota Corolla Hybrid, which has a rough release date of sometime this coming spring.

Naturally, the brand-new Corolla Hybrid will receive all of the same updates and enhancements as the all-new 2020 Corolla. Everything that’s new in the Corolla will also be in the Corolla Hybrid, but the latter gets the added benefit of the hybrid powertrain. Considering Toyota has had roughly two decades to improve and perfect that hybrid powertrain formula, we’re pretty stoked about this new offering.
Hybrid Specs & Features
Naturally, exact specifications for the Corolla Hybrid’s fuel economy ratings have yet to be confirmed by the EPA considering it was just announced, however, Toyota projects it to deliver more than 50 miles per gallon combined. Since the brand-new Corolla Hybrid will be built with the new-gen Hybrid Synergy Drive as well as on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform, we think 50+ is a pretty safe bet, and we can’t wait for that to be confirmed.
Exclusive to the Corolla Hybrid is a set of 15” aluminum alloy wheels that have low-rolling resistance tires wrapped around them. Additionally, the instrument panel is a bit different in the Corolla Hybrid, utilizing a high-grade meter that features a 7” MID. The MID has special screens particularly geared towards ECO driving and tracking fuel economy.
