While everyone was talking about the next-gen 2019 Toyota RAV4 making its debut at the New York International Auto Show, attendees were surprised when the all-new 2019 Toyota Corolla Hatchback rolled onto the stage alongside the popular crossover. Gone is the short-lived Corolla iM and in its place the simply named Corolla Hatchback rises. With a release date of sometime this summer, we cannot wait for the stunning compact sedan to arrive.
“It’s synonymous with dependability, fuel efficiency, safety, and immense value. Corolla has always been the go-to for guests like budding families or that bright emerging freshman, and as a hatchback it offers extra versatility, technology, and – probably most important – style, and then there’s the element that I like: it’s got the footwork to impress, as in, it’s a true athlete.”

What’s new in the 2019 Corolla Hatchback?
Obviously one of the biggest changes is the hatchback sedan’s nomenclature, but we figured we’d focus on some of the other things that are new in the Corolla Hatchback. For instance, it’s now built on the Toyota New Global Architecture platform and features a revised suspension system tuned more for sporty driving. Other design changes have been made to the front and rear fascias as well, and a brand-new exterior color option called Rival Blue joins the list of choices.
There are some new performance features as well, like the Dynamic-Shift continuously variable transmission or six-speed intelligent manual transmission, which are both available options in the vehicle. But perhaps the biggest changes came in terms of the Toyota Safety Sense package as it enters its own second generation. We’ll cover those changes more in-depth later this month.
